January 2005
Hello Friends,
It has been a while since I have written to you all regarding
Dad. He still
resides in his skilled nursing residence. He spends part of his
morning in
his wheelchair and the rest of the time he spends in bed: dozing
and
sleeping. He watches some television: sports, ESPN and the history
channel
(his roommate isn't too keen on the history channel but it is
Dad's only
source of entertainment besides Mom and the rest of his family!!!!).
He did
visit with the family on Thanksgiving at sister Jody's home for
an hour or
so. I am trying to attach a photo of Dad and some of the grandkids
(l-r
Colin Baldwin, Brent, Corrie and Clint Baer and Elizabeth Baldwin)
with
this message, but I am not computer savvy.
He's not eating much so his weight is slowly declining. He is
still robust
though. He is having some seizure activity, as well. I selected
this
description because he has different kinds of seizures: absence
(no
shaking, just no "light" in the eyes) and "regular"
(that's my non-medical
description of what may be petit mal or may not be; it's hard
to tell
because they aren't all observed and when they are, it is usually
Mom who
sees them and not medical personnel). Sometimes, Dad is aware
that these
happen to him and other times not.
Dad is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances.
Just keep
him and Mom in your thoughts and prayers. Mom is doing very well.
She is
with Dad from 11-3 everyday and since Dad can still tell time,
he gives her
the "eyebrow" lift if she is "late".
For those that keep in touch with Mom, please check your listing
of her
address which is:
1619 Woodhill Dr., Roseville, CA 95661.
Santa Clara Swim Club alums should check out the team's website.
There is
an alum link and a plan underway for a reunion
in 2006.
